'Mantilla' sofa by Kazuhide Takahama for Gavina. Original mint crushed velvet cover, easily removable. Sourced outside of Florence, Italy.

Kazuhide Takahama (1920-2013) was a Japanese-born, Italian-inspired lighting and furniture designer. Takahama worked and taught in Japan but ultimately relocated to Bologna, Italy in 1963 where he fostered relationships and collaborations with renowned Italian designers. Takahama’s work reflects this east and west design fusion with a modern touch. He has worked with Gavina, Cassina, Paradisoterrestre and B&B Italia, among others. Takahama’s Saghi Lounge Chair in the permanent collection at the MoMA.
